Dear friends,

It is my great pleasure to introduce Tracy Walters McCormack, former Director of Advocacy at The University of Texas School of Law, who will be joining our team as an experienced mediator, arbitrator, and consultant.

Tracy is available immediately for mediations and arbitrations, both in-person and remote, as well as the services below.

  • Court-Appointed Neutral
  • Small and Large Group Teaching and Training
  • Program Design and Implementation

Prior to joining our team, Tracy served as the Director of Advocacy at The University of Texas School of Law and as a full-time lecturer since 2000, following 14 years of practice as a trial lawyer in Austin. She remains a Senior Lecturer at the Law School.

Tracy is the President of the National Board of Trial Advocacy. She is a founding member of the Patent Litigation and Complex Litigation specialty commissions. She is a member of Austin Board of Trial Advocacy and is a co-chair of its Professional Education Committee, as well as other ADR and legal organizations. Her most recent book, Remote Advocacy in a Nutshell, was published by West Publications in 2021. Tracy’s previous books and publications explore issues associated with the decline of the jury trial, the privatization of the justice system, and the appropriate use of ADR in the legal system and trial advocacy.

For more information about Tracy’s availability and services, you may contact her directly at tracy@karlbayer.com, or speak to our dispute resolution coordinator Alyson by phone at (512) 345-8537 or via email at alyson@karlbayer.com.

About Karl Bayer

Karl Bayer is an ADR practitioner with almost thirty years of of experience in litigation, mediation, and arbitration. A long-time successful trial lawyer, Karl recognized early the opportunities which ADR provided to the world of litigation and began to explore the potential of his mediation practice. As he had already earned the respect and trust of both the plaintiffs' and the defense bars, he filled a niche in Austin as a mediator who is requested by both sides of most disputes. He has spoken extensively about ADR and technical topics, both at CLE presentations and as an adjunct professor at The University of Texas School of Law.

Karl also serves frequently as a pre-trial special master in federal district courts in Texas. While this service is often in the capacity of a Markman Master in patent infringement cases, he also serves as a general pre-trial master assisting judges and litigants as they wade through discovery and other pretrial procedural disputes.
