FINRA Board Approves New Rule for Selecting Arbitral Panels

Last week, the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) Board approved a measure that may make it easier for investors to select arbitrators in a dispute against a securities brokerage. The newly approved measure would authorize the parties to a dispute that exceeds $100,000 to select a panel chairman, a public arbitrator, and an arbitrator with industry ties from a FINRA list immediately.

Texas Company Files Suit to Recover Bonus from Armstrong

A Texas promotions company that paid cycling champion Lance Armstrong bonus payments following his seven Tour de France wins has filed a breach of contract lawsuit in a Dallas district court against the now disgraced sports star. SCA promotions is seeking to recover more than $12 million the company paid to Armstrong in connection with several cycling wins. Former Client Disputes Arbitration Decision Awarding $3M in Attorney Fees

On January 29th, a unique case was filed in Dallas County. In Parallel Networks, Inc. v. Jenner & Block, LLP, a former client of the law firm filed a motion to vacate an arbitral award of $3 million in attorney fees.
